Halal There, Glad To Meet You!
The Halal Wave started as “Rise of the Muslim Market”. It was born from team member Nabillah’s observations that there seemed to be more Muslim-friendly stores lately, from food to lifestyle and fashion. Azreen and Anmol were immediately keen, having been #TeamHalal for majority of their lives. It took some discussion to convince Shiya but she was eventually swayed by the team’s interests and the enticing challenge of exploring something new.
After a volley of back-and-forth phone calls and emails, accompanied by journeys into the heart of the Malay Quarter in Bugis, we bring to you the stories of industry experts, businesses and Muslim consumers.
Some of these insights may be touchy, but we hope readers will keep an open mind. A spoiler alert: Keep reading, as all will likely be resolved by our final sentences.
Like the Muslim market, The Halal Wave is for all. We have explored options for both entrepreneurs seeking a new business opportunity and existing businesses looking to diversify. There’s also material for the everyday Muslim consumer. Take a look at how we’ve traced the phantom line between halal and haram, and see if you agree.
Ultimately, we hope our stories will leave you in a better position to decide — are you ready for The Halal Wave?
